As your Colorado mortgage specialist, it isn’t our intent to simply provide a loan and move on to the next file. We would like to help you find ways to thrive in your home, whether it is your first home, your retirement home or anywhere in between. We network with a wide variety of businesses which provide a vast spectrum of products and services to meet your needs. Every month, we will select one of these networking partners to feature on our blog. They will explain, in their own words, how you might benefit from their services. If you choose to work with any of these businesses, please let them know you heard about them from our website and be sure to let us know about your experience!

Are you an older adult living with chronic pain, low appetite, fatigue, or insomnia? You are not alone. At my practice, Boulder Acupuncture and Herbs, I specialize in treating older adults with these conditions every day.
What Ailments Can Acupuncture Treat?
Licensed acupuncturists in Colorado have extensive training in acupuncture and offer effective, customized treatments that can ease many of the challenges of aging. Some of our treatment strategies are over 2,000 years old and have benefitted from centuries of refinement. In addition, the World Health Organization has determined that acupuncture is an effective form of treatment for 116 different ailments.
In my clinic, I regularly treat back, hip, knee, neck and shoulder pain; constipation; stress, depression, and anxiety; insomnia; low appetite; and muscle weakness. My patients report a significant reduction in pain, mental discomfort, and weakness with regular treatment. I also treat patients both before and after surgery, which helps with pain management and speeds up the rate of recovery by promoting blood circulation and boosting the immune system.
What If You Can’t Get to An Office?
You may visit an acupuncturist in their office, a retirement community, or a local senior center, depending on where you live. Many acupuncturists also offer house calls for patients who would be more comfortable receiving care at home. No matter how limited your mobility, an acupuncturist familiar with elder care will be able to offer a safe and effective in-home treatment for only slightly more than the cost of a treatment in their office. If mobility is a concern, ask your acupuncturist if they are open to seeing you at home.
Is Acupuncture Safe?
Many older adults are also under the care of a physician. Acupuncture is a safe form of complementary care that does not interfere with most medications or therapy exercises. It is safe to use with blood thinners, hypertension medications, thyroid medicines, and cholesterol drugs. Just be sure to share your medication list with your practitioner before treatment so they are familiar with your condition.
Aches and pains are a part of aging, but acupuncture can be a simple solution to some of the conditions you may have accepted as a permanent part of growing older. Talk to an acupuncturist about whether they can help.
